We decided to cover our block entry steps on the side porch with stone; so, naturally, we asked Pedro to do the job. The block steps didn't appear too bad, but it was just a simple change I had long wanted. As is often the case with simple changes, uncovered problems reveal the need for more extensive work. In this case we couldn't just add a stone veneer over the existing blocks because there was some washing beneath the blocks. We made the call to fix it while the job was being done. Pedro started excavating the old steps. Then he poured a foundation... He rebuilt the steps and covered with a nice flagstone. Here's the before and after... I like it so much more than before. What do you think?

Steps look great! Pedro is the man, and well named from the Spanish word for stone. An historical side note: glad to see you still have the E.O. Elder sign painted in early June 1972 (and retouched a time or two since) by yours truly. That was during a vacation we took at Toe Holt before we moved to Asheville, when the temp. dropped into the low 30's one night! Had to jump out of bed that morning and make the short drive to Wilson's (?) Gas Co. for a refill of the little 20-gallon tank. Forgive the ramblings of an old geezer.

I didn't know you painted that sign! Diane gave it to us when we bought Two Holt.

Love the look of Pedro's stone work, here and the driveway wall.

Thank you. We love his work, too. He's an all around great guy and we now consider him to be a good friend. :)
