Pedro's sheet rocking crew hung the sheetrock on all three levels in two days. But the finishing guy wasn't able to work on Two Holt today. Here's the garage... We added a tankless hot water system large enough to run two showers, a bath, and a load of laundry concurrently. It's energy efficient, too, as it only heats what you use. The next level is the master bedroom level. And now on to the upper floor where we have two guest bedrooms and a full bath... As soon as the sheetrock crew finishes, things are going to be hopping around here. Keep watching...we're almost done!

Construction action continued on Two Holt this week. We passed our framing, electrical, and heating & air inspections. We did have to build a mechanical room to house the heating unit and tankless hot water system in the basement, but we like it better anyway. The plumber is still not ready for an inspection as he continues to find and fix leaks. Hopefully, he'll be ready next week. After our other inspections, look who arrived--the insulation company. They got right to work and will finish on Monday. Then we'll call for another inspection. Meanwhile we had a new guy, Pedro, adding stone to the garage exterior. I love it! Pedro will add a small stone wall to define the mixed shrub garden bed which will be beneath the screen deck next to the garage. We also had Pedro add a more aesthetically pleasing surface to the poured cement wall surface on the side of the basement. Now the seams won't show. We can paint it or let it dry to its natural color. Pedro will be a busy man as we've also asked him to build our block retaining wall behind the new addition and lay the large stone steps up the slope beside the basement. Contractor Jerry clad the steel beams under each deck with hardy board siding so we could paint and hide the steel. Two Holt is coming along nicely!
Before the dry wall goes on Two Holt's walls, Phil and I wanted to add some of our favorite scriptures. Yes, these studs will be covered, but we will know these scriptures are there. And who knows...maybe one future day someone will take these walls back down to the studs and these scriptures will witness to them. Highlands is a temperate rainforest so it receives lots of rain. The scripture in the picture below is one of my favorites for rainy days so I added it next to the window looking out on the deck. Phil added one of his favorite Bible verses to the stairs. Romans 8:28 is a favorite verse for me. God doesn't say that all things ARE good, but all things can work for good. Here I am recording another verse near the spot we will place our bed. Phil recorded one of his favorite scriptures over his bedroom window--"What then shall I do with Jesus..."--Pilate's question, but a question we must all answer. "When I am afraid, I will trust in Thee." I've claimed this verse often so I decided to write it on the stud in my bedroom wall. Another verse which I need to remember more often... I have been blessed to spend my life with someone who loves God's Word as much as Phil does. We thank God for this beautiful place He has given us for this last chapter of our lives, but mostly we thank Him for His love, grace, and mercy which we experience on a daily basis.
