About that time I saw a Highlands police car slowly approaching the summit. So what did I do? I waved him over and we struck up a conversation. I could see the last 1/4 mile to the summit was a steep climb so I asked the friendly police officer(much to Phil's embarrassment) if he'd give us a ride to the top. He quickly agreed and opened the door and, before Phil could decline, I climbed in the back seat and told Phil to get in!
We started back down the road towards town, but I stopped to take a picture of a little parking spot right at the summit. If you ever want to experience Satulah, I suggest you drive up and look for this little spot almost at the top. We met a guy returning to his car which was parked here along with his dog, Lucy, after enjoying the summit view. Apparently the locals know you can park here even though it's not advertised which will save you from the 2+ hour hike Phil and I took on today. ;)
