Our second guest bedroom is ready. This bedroom is mostly done in white and light blue. So let me take you on a tour... We haven't finished the stairwell painting nor have we finished the living/dining room, but we're getting closer!

I have a few empty spots which will make me continue to look for just the right item to add, but, for the most part, the guest bathroom is finished. So let's take a peek inside... It's finally coming together!
We have been blessed to meet some fine people during our renovation project. Pedro is our favorite. After we got to know Pedro he opened up a little bit about his past. He came to the US alone as a teenager in search of a better life. He lived in the streets until a contractor employed him, offered him a place to live, and became his mentor. He is now 30 years old with a wife and three polite, intelligent, and beautiful girls. We've met them and it's easy to see why his eyes light up when he talks about them. He has a drywall business and also lays stone. He has one of the strongest work ethics I've ever seen, but balances it beautifully with his role as a father. We are impressed with this young man! Pedro built a garden area at the road which is now home to our garden bell which we brought from our Alabama garden. In this view from above the garden you can see how much planting area we have. Phil's present plan is to plant a Japanese maple in this bed. Pedro continued his stone work up the drive which created another small bed to plant next spring. The longest wall creates a garden bed from the garage to the upper garden. We plan to add a mixture of shrubs to this bed. This is also where we'll place Phil's grandparents' old farm bell on a post. Pedro wanted to add steps to the upper garden which would be easy for us to use. Pedro built a retaining wall behind Two Holt. This small area will be sodded to become Boots' exercise run. Pedro will be returning in about two weeks to add stone to our fireplace. I've also asked him to build us one more wall on the inside area of our lower drive and replace the original block steps leading into the old cottage with stone steps. But those two projects will wait until late spring 2017. We're ready to take a break from all the renovations and enjoy the holidays!
