On January 6th snow started falling on Highlands while I was out walking Boots. Luckily I had my umbrella because the snow was coming down in flurries. It continued snowing for a couple of hours and stopped around 4:00. We had about a half inch of snow on the ground. The snow returned around 7:30 that night and quickly began covering the ground. It snowed all night long while we enjoyed the fire and then later our trusty electric blanket and toasty comforters. What a winter wonderland we awoke to Saturday morning! The birds were very happy to see us get out of bed because it meant the feeders would be hung outside for them. The heated birdbath stays out on the balcony all the time, but the feeders are brought inside at night. I took Boots for a walk and he loved hopping through the snow. I loved seeing the beautiful snow-covered landscape. I wondered what animal had left these tracks on our lower driveway... Boots and I continued on our walk... We walked by Boots' best friend's house, but Susie and her owner, DeeDee, won't be back until early spring. We walked on down the road... ...and turned the corner onto Perquin Road, a narrow less-traveled road. Soon we were back on Hickory Hill Road... ...and Two Holt was waiting for us. Stay warm my friends. That's what we intend to do today. Our temperatures aren't forecast to rise above freezing until Tuesday so the snow will be here a few more days.
