You've surely seen many pictures and read stories of our brother, Larry. He's an amazingly talented man and I adore him. So we placed the unfinished portrait on a wall in the guest bedroom. Each time I go in that bedroom and see my daddy's old suitcase, the table Phil's dad built for his mom when they were newlyweds, and now the unfinished portrait, I smile. I've been blessed with good men in my life and covered with a strong love. I want Two Holt to honor these special men.
A few years ago Phil and his brothers emptied their childhood home in preparation of selling it after their mom passed away. Phil brought home a portrait of himself from his early teen years that his brother had started painting but never finished. I instantly loved it!

I am overcome with emotion reading such kind and loving words, Sharon. I feel truly honored to have this unfinished oil portrait hanging in Two Holt. Only wish I had finished it and framed it. Incidentally, I have an unfinished oil self-portrait in one of my closets, dating back to about 1971 or so. One reason for not finishing the self-portrait is because I had come to the point in the painting of needing to paint my hand (left hand in the mirror from which I was using, but actually the right hand). So, the hand I needed to paint was the hand I was painting with, and I didn't have a model. Of course, I should have taken a photo of that hand to use. Another coulda, woulda, shoulda's of mine, I guess. I have a ton of those. Thanks for the memories and the kind words, and love to you and Phil.

I'd love to see your unfinished self portrait sometime, Larry. One day one of your children will cherish having it.
