Way back when we first started this blog we had a post titled "Now it's yours, now it's not..." where we had a little problem closing the deal on Two Holt. Well, here we go again! You've probably read "Watershed Victory!"--our post about purchasing the land behind Two Holt. Maybe there's another reason those two elderly brothers jumped at our offer to buy that lot...oh, I don't know...maybe a reason like...NO CLEAR TITLE! Yep--our attorney called us today and said, "Ummm...there's a problem with the title dating back to the 1940s and, unless the sellers are willing to go to the trouble and expense of researching and going back to clear that title, I wouldn't advise you to proceed." The seller's response? They have two other offers that have arrived since ours and they'll just sell to one of those. Not so fast--you take an offer to buy a lot that you don't have clear title to, sign the contract, and just want to say, "Sorry"? I think not...there's a little problem here--like our legal expenses and survey cost incurred in good faith of a purchase. Cough it up, dear brothers, and THEN you can move on! Stay tuned, friends--we'll update when we know something!
