Phil and I have enjoyed our time at Two Holt this week. Phil added a plant to this cute wire bird's nest and placed it in the garden while I snipped a few Annabelle hydrangeas, rhodies and hosta blooms to make an arrangement to enjoy inside. Phil did a little weed-eating and painting and I went shopping on Main Street where I found this cute cotton wreath. I thought it would be the perfect piece to honor my home--Alabama, The Cotton State. I love it! We cleaned out a closet and took a few more things stored under our bed at Two Holt to Mountain Findings. Mountain Findings is a non-profit thrift store. All the money raised in the store is used to support area charitable organizations. We could spend the day shopping at Mountain Findings, but this day we were in a hurry to travel down the mountain to Cashiers, North Carolina. Our destination in Cashiers was Silver Run Falls which our brother, Larry, and his lovely lady, Susan, had recommended as a very easy hike. Phil is scheduled for surgery in a few days and we had to have an easy hike. What a perfect choice! We parked the car beside the road and started down the path to the falls. The further we walked on the path, the more beauty we saw. After a short five minute walk we were there at the falls. After leaving Silver Run Falls, Phil and I decided to visit Sliding Rock. Phil remembered swimming there in his younger years with his family. We pulled up to the parking area behind a few other cars. We knew this popular spot would have other visitors enjoying it. We started down the path. When we emerged in the clearing we saw a group of teenagers enjoying the rock and the cold water. The cold water didn't seem to bother this group! We watched the fun a few minutes and returned to the car. After shopping in Cashiers we drove back up the mountain to Highlands. We had a lovely outdoor lunch at the Main Street Inn before returning to Two Holt. And that, friends, is how to spend a perfect day in the Western North Carolina mountains.

Great blog post on what looks like a wonderfully relaxing day! I love the layout of your blog and the way you caption the photos. There's definitely a book somewhere in all these Two Holt stories. Knew you'd enjoy Silver Run Falls, and Sliding Rock also looks great. Strange that I don't remember ever visiting it, over all these decades! So glad you two are having such a fun time in your special place.

We've surely had beautiful weather! Tomorrow Phil plans to paint and weed-eat a little more. I will just tinker around the house and garden. It promises to be another perfect day. :)
